That shouldn't make a difference as long as it's a SATA to SATA and proper size.

Hey is it true that the 6550 can be overclocked higher than the 5650 ? Or are they both slightly the same ?

    Hi,

i've updated my 4820TG by adding a Crucial M4 SSD.. It works fine but i noticed that when i'm in powersaving mode (using Intel HD3000 video card), i get crashs sometimes (can be 3 or 3 in the same hour and just 1 time per week).

If anyone can help me, i would really appreciate.

It is the same core and in fact the same card but 6550 is factory overclocked and to ensure stability overvolted.
So if you try to OC both from their respective stock clocks 6550 will go higher due to higher core voltage.

So I have a 4820TG, but it got fried in a storm. I was wondering if anyone knows when this model will be updated to ivy? It's a great pc and all I could really want it Ivy Bridge.

so I repasted my 4820TG, but I'm not too happy about the temps, I think they even got worse.

    Tmax:

    CPU after 20 mins on prime95 = 80°C
GPU after 20 mins on FurMark = 94°C

    use HWMonitor to check temps.

beforehand, the GPU temps were ~82-85°C as far as I remember

should I be worried, or just leave it and not to mess with that any more?

    EDIT:

used copper shim instead of pad, as recommended by downloads and the GPU max temp after 20 mins in FurMark is 78°C.

    what a difference.

The TimelineX series has ended. The new version is the M3 Timeline Ultrabooks which come in 14 and 15" sizes, have a Kepler GT640M GPU and 17W low powered CPUs. Same craptastic display. I would look at the Dell 14 when it is released or the Gigabyte U2442N.

Well e. The Gigabyte looks nice but i am worried about battery life since it lacks the Timeline's gpu switching.
