yes you can and yes I do remember the instructions.
And SSD prices are falling every week, indeed.Acer Aspire Timeline X 4820TG-6847 | Intel i5 480M | AMD HD 6550 | Crucial 8GB DDR3 | Samsung 830 128GB SSD

Re: Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG Owners Lounge
Hey guys
so glad I found this forum I have a few questions
People above are looking at upgrading their Ram, if I do that, what kind of difference will it make?
Also,
Have any of you tried to play BF3 on their 4820?
I tried and had it on low settings and the frames were fine for me but I have that black ground bug where some of the floor tiles don't show up.
I tried uninstalling BF and reinstalling, didn't work
Tried doing the same with windows, didn't work
tried downloading drivers and either it won't accept because they aren't acer drivers or they go to install and fail.
Can I completely remove the acer windows on it and buy a fresh windows 7 and install it so I can download drivers myself?

Re: Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG Owners Lounge
Since I hadn't tried anything for a few months, I downloaded an old driver this morning just for the sake of it and... it works lol
now there's no black ground and BF3 is running even smoother
finallyyyyy
So now I'm just wondering about the Ram

Re: Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG Owners Lounge
That seems pretty solid to me. I don't think you will get much benefit in upgrading the memory.4096 MB, 2x 2048 MByte DDR3-8500 (1066 MHz)
But maybe someone else can answer that question more convincingly.
And also, does any one know the best place to get a battery replacement?

Re: Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG Owners Lounge
depends on how much you want to spent - in other words, if you want a genuine or just a non-branded replacement.
from my experience, genuine cost about 2x the price of say ebay ones.Acer Aspire Timeline X 4820TG-6847 | Intel i5 480M | AMD HD 6550 | Crucial 8GB DDR3 | Samsung 830 128GB SSD

Re: Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG Owners Lounge
it will have 0 impact on your FPS when gaming, but it's nice to have, if you work with software that can utilize more RAM - like virtual machines etc.
The RAM is cheap these days, but doubling your RAM will not improve your gaming experience, so if that's your only reason for that, just keep the cash.Acer Aspire Timeline X 4820TG-6847 | Intel i5 480M | AMD HD 6550 | Crucial 8GB DDR3 | Samsung 830 128GB SSD

Re: Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG Owners Lounge
I'm also looking for a new battery I forgot to put that in. It feels like mine lasts about an hour when not plugged in. I watched ONE episode of game of thrones in bed and it was almost dead by the time it finished.
I don't use any software that will use ram like Photoshop or whatever so yeah I'll just save the money
Thanks

What kind of problems? I finished Max Payne 3 today on HD 5650 (OCed) with no issues (apart from the utter lack of story-line in that game).

Re: Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG Owners Lounge
Edit: Just found this on ebay, it says it is compatible with 4820TG. Now I am wondering would any 9.5mm drive work for 4820tg? or shall I buy this specific one?
