Sorry if this is a noob question :S
The clockgen would have to be swapped out or you would have to have pinmod done (jumper wire on 4th pin of the clockgen). The pinmod would he the cheapest if you are comfortable with soldering under a magnifying glass. I doubt that the colckgen can be swapped without some serious equipment, so you would have to change the motherboard. The funny thing is that you can't be sure if the new board is OC'able because the placement of the different clockgen on the Mobo seems to be random. You would be better off selling your unit. Start from scratch and keep returning units until you get one that OC's.

@Hendrickson my drivers are here - Acer TimelineX 3820TG Owners Lounge. Info, benchmarks, tweaks, mods and upgrades. I'm still using the original driver. I am not that happy with it and have been thinking about looking for a newer one but I think I'm just swapping the unit for an Intel 6200. Sounds like you had no problem selling your machine. I have to tell you, I am tempted to try to find another German site that will ship to me and do it again to see if I can get an OC'able unit. What holds me back is my display. I have the feeling that it will be really hard to get one that I like this much. Plus, every time I think about doing all of this over again, I start to shudder and break-out in a cold sweat.

    @Hendrickson

I have no BT 3.0 device and these means a can't test ist at the moment.
You have to deinstall first you Broadcom druver because it is newer than the Acer one.

Just a picture to show what was Acer doing to get the BT 3.0 as device description.

I would say that the model i got which they still have stock of is slightly older and you would have a really good chance of getting an overclockable one.

Your BT driver is the same. I'm just puzzled on how the hell i can get bt3 to work correctly then...

Hi everyone, i had been follow this post for a while and I got my 3820TG few days ago from Hong Kong. I am really happy with this new toy, it's not as light as 3810 but it's way more powerful(I can finally play BC2 on a laptop without too much weight) Anyway, I need you guys to help me out, when i try to update the 5650 driver to 10.7(8.753), the driver stay as 8.713(Which is 10.5/6). The reason I really want to update the driver is because it take forever to load BC2 online' map, and I really hate that.
Plz help me solve this problem

    hey,

I am about to do a clean install of Windows 7 on my new 3820TG using Bronsky's driver backups. What I'm asking myself right now is whether I'll have to follow any particular installation order in order to restore the default driver configuration (e.g.: Intel VGA driver first, then ATI).
Could you guys help me out with this?

@bronsky: in your post concerning the win 7 clean install you mentioned that you haven't put any of the Acer apps on your system. But what about the "Acer ePower application" - don't you need that software to switch between the Intel and ATI VGA?

Have you switched your bios to "dedicated" before trying to install the driver
    mine seems to work fine.

@Hendrickson Just loaded and ran CPUID. It recognizes I5-450M but on the Mainboard page it shows Mainboard link width at 1x with a max of 16x. PCIExpress problem? Again? Related to 10.7? CPUID not reading it correctly? Does it idle at 1X? 3DMark06 seems to work fine. Although I ran it a few times and I'm getting about 180 pts less between 10.6 & 10.7.

Anybody know how to change photobucket settings so that I can UL a pic and it won't make it smaller? Yeah! It worked.

I would use my own driver backups. Make the eRecovery disk. You never know if there are changes that you won't catch that will drive you nuts. I only posted them for an emergency if someone failed to eRecover before wiping out the HD. Also, they are now on the Acer site. How are you backing up your OEM cert and key?

^ I'll try using the tool you recommended. If that doesn't help I'll be following this guide on a manual method.

My 3820TG will probably be delivered later today or tommorow morning. As soon as I get my hands on it, I'll post my experience with the two cert-backup methods.
