I already told you there is no overclock options in BIOS. You'll need to use software like SetFSB or ThrottleStop to overclock.

    Hello kizwan,

thanks a lot for your prompt reply!

I tried the BIOS repair option first, with the official Acer Bios v1.34 to make sure I could see that it worked. The "CRISIS DISK - Phlash16_v1.7.0.18_DiffSize.rar" file worked for me, whereas the first one ("Acer Aspire 9420 BIOS Recovery.rar") did not. By the way, I suspect that for those people who are having trouble to get the BIOS repair option working it might be useful to replace the phlash16.exe from the crisis package with the one that comes with the official bios that you want to restore. Just a thought, micht be worth a try.

In either modified BIOS image, there is an option to enabled or disabled Intel SpeedStep. Is this what are you looking for?
Exactly. The modded BIOS works just fine.

Thanks a lot for your help! Very much appreciated!

I've seen screenshots of several BIOS screens & wondering if anyone has a link to the software. I tried Google to no avail.

    Thanks!

    Hi,
i have installed the modified bios for acer travelmate 4673wlmi to unlock some options and it works.

But i would like to update my t2300e cpu (yonah) to a merom t5600 or t7200

It should be technically possible but i dont know if this bios contains the cpu microcode. In otherwords i would like to know if merom is supported with this bios.

Software to make the BIOS screenshots? I think people are using cell phones or point-and-shoot digital cameras. Since there's nothing but the BIOS running at the time, you can't run any image-capturing software on the PC.

Speaking of BIOS pictures, but in the reverse direction, is it possible to change the BIOS "splash screen" graphic (on Dells, either the big blue boxy Dell font, or on newer systems, the Dell-in-a-circle one)?

Dell used to make a splash tool available to let users change this, but on all of the models from the last several years, it hasn't worked, instead saying that a BIOS update is needed to enable the function. I think that's the generic error message from the tool, back when splash support was being added to the BIOS as it was revised.

This BIOS doesn't contain CPU Microcode Update for Merom processor, at least for T5600 & T7200. I prefer you tried to upgrade the processor first before I mod the BIOS. If your notebook unable to boot (no POST at all) with Merom CPU, that means it is not BIOS fault, it just simply means the Merom CPU is not supported.

    @MoInSTL & @Terry,
About the screenshot of the BIOS screen, I use Phoenix BIOS Editor (PBE) to produced it. It is called simulated BIOS screen. However, newer BIOS is not compatible with PBE (can't open with it). This is an example of simulated BIOS screen produced using PBE:-

    Ok, thanks for the info.
Well I dont want to waste money on a cpu that wont work and perhaps a bios mod could help as ive read that the socket supports these cpu's but need a bios update and acer doesnt have any bios updates for this model.

Like the old mac mini also had a t2300 and could handle withoud bios updates t7200 thats what made me think..

If T7200 or T5600 does work on TM4672WLMi, you don't need modified BIOS image with microcode update. If it does supported you can boot with T7200 or T5600 but you'll be greeted with a warning message. You can continue by pressing F1. This is an example of the warning message:-

To fix this warning message, you'll need a modified BIOS image with new microcode update.

If it doesn't boot at all. Meaning blank screen, no POST at all. Modified BIOS with new microcode update won't be able to fix it.
