surely the HD graphics will be better than the 4500 in the previous model?

    good for 1200-1500 3dmark06?

    or am i missing something.

Yes they will, how much better is the question. In regular laptops, how are the current Intel HD Graphics comparing to the previous X4500?

Twice the performance. Maybe. The ulv Core i's do have slow gpu clockspeeds, from 166MHz to 500MHz. Notebookcheck tests.

    yep thats what i thought.

to me this is AWESOME. exactly what i need. i dont play todays games, i play mostly stratgey games. so the m11x was overkill for me and too pricey. i need better CPU if anything, my 1000he netbook is getting tiresome.

so whats likely cost of the base 1830t? if it gets anywhere near the x201 then for me i would go another brand. acer for me is about good value.

Anybody know if the Core i ulv's are soldiered on?
Traditionally, LV and ULV have been soldered onto the boards. There was a motion calling for Intel to sell a socketed LV processor at one point, but I don't think anything ever came of that.

As a 1410 owner, I'd never end up buying this (way too soon to upgrade), but it looks like a really nice package. Though based on current pricing, I'd guess this'd come in around at least $700, which is a tad on the higher side.

I dunno how much the current GS45 chipset and X4500 integrated graphics adds onto the 10watts of the current CULV chips.

    So, its not that bad.
    Thanks for pointing that out.
