Re: Acer Aspire 5740G Owners Lounge
Any review on the audio? Is it loud?

Re: Acer Aspire 5740G Owners Lounge
Yeah it's loud.
As for the speaker quality it is actually pretty good mainly thanks to Dolby Home Theatre. If you switch off Surround Sound and especially Audio Enhancer speakers start to sound like laptop speakers usually do but with these settings enabled does sound good.
Also Audio Enhancer and Surround Sound still work with updated drivers downloaded from Realtek website- it's not the TUBA case when you had to stick to original Acer drivers or it would stop working.

Especially that what I have- 5740G-434G50Mn- is exactly the same (unless 6454 does have Bluetooth) and is still being sold in Europe.
I wonder if there is any difference between the two apart from language version of Windows.

By that you mean 6454, right? Wonder if 6979 is going to be discontinued too.

Re: Acer Aspire 5740G Owners Lounge
I wouldn't assume anything- European 434G50Mn is basically identical to 6979 and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere soon.
I've just checked few online shops and a forum where one very respected retailer always informs clients of any changes and it looks like the only change is the price went down a bit and there is going to be a version without Windows available.

Re: Acer Aspire 5740G Owners Lounge
umm quick question...any of you guys hear any weird noise (a high pitched whining or a soft clicking or both?) from the brick of the charger for this laptop (i currently have the 6395 version of this model)...either way the sound is really soft and honestly not that noticeble but im just concerned for the comps i just bought...any reason to worry?

Re: Acer Aspire 5740G Owners Lounge
If you mean the PSU- yeah. If you put your eat to it, it does make some kind of sound but that's normal- after all you get 230V in (or 110V in the US) and only 19V out- it's a converter in a way.
All my PSUs did that- on some occasions it was quite noticeable. Anyway- nothing to worry about. And you are definitely not hearing impaired if you can hear that
