Re: Acer Aspire 8935G RAM
Hey Folks,
Dont know if anybody tried upgrading the ram of the 8935G to more than 4gb.
I will try this in the next few days. i have a 8935G and will try and put 2 4gb soDIMM in it and see what this does. My colleague has the 8940 laptop with 8gb ram and these have the same memory modules than the 8935. So i wil try and swap these and see if it works.
Will post the results.
Regards,

Re: Acer Aspire 8935G RAM
Hey,
Ok i tried the memory thingy and it works. I tried 2 combinations.
The first one was with 1 sodimm of 2gb and 1 of 4 gb and this worked perfect.
The second one was with 2 sodimm of 4gb and this also worked perfect.
So it is really no problem for the laptop to handle the 8gb. did not try it with more but when this happens i will also post my results.
I also upgraded the primary hdd to a solid state and this score's a whopping 7.7 in windows 7. My old ram scored a 5.9 and now with this 8gb it scores a 7.3.
I can really recommend the upgrade, it makes everything a lot smoother.
Hope this was a bit helpfull.
Kind regards,
Jimmy

I have 8940 laptop with 8gb ram and these have the same memory modules than the 8935.I think 4GB is enough for the Acer 8935.But I think that before you want to make your move to get more RAM call the Acer center and ask them if you could add more memory.

Re: Acer Aspire 8935G RAM
Think for most people 4 gb will be enough since it has 32bit windows but we use autocad on these laptops under a 64bit windows so the more mem the better. And i know, i also have the 8940 model and tried swapping these before buying the new ram. it works perfect. got the 8935G running on 8gb now and it scores a 6.9 on the memory now under win7 x6x4 pro. before with the 4gb it was only 5.9 so it really is an improvement.

Jimmy

Re: Acer Aspire 8935G RAM
Hi Jimmy,
This has been a great help mate. I have a few questions if you don't mind.
1. What SSD did you buy for it? How easy was it to install/fit and setup?
2. What speed was the memory you tested as I'd like to get my memory score up
.
Thanks again
H
Do you mean call them and ask them if the system would recognise it or work with it? I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit so it should hopefully work.

Re: Acer Aspire 8935G RAM
If you have the money then go for the upgrade to 8GB, but you won't notice a difference in day to day programs. My desktop performs identically to my laptop with 3GB, except when I run large memory intensive applications such as MATLAB and AutoCAD. If you do upgrade, just remember memory speed is a marketing gimmick and makes no difference at all, in any situation. And it will be fine under the 8935/8940 with Win 7 64-bit.
SSDs are very easy to install, just like putting in another HDD.

Re: Acer Aspire 8935G RAM
I bought an intel X-25M 160gb SSD and installation was very easy.
The memory i use now are 2x 4GB DDR3 PC3-8500F (533mhz) these are the same specs like the original memory modules only in 4gb. And these score a 7.3 in the windows 7 score index.
hope this helps a bit.
regards,
Jimmy
