Hi, Acer gamezone seems only to be a link on the desktop to their site, so I don't know if uninstalling that will remove all the games, so you might end up uninstalling them individually. Yes powerproducer can go but keep NTI's Media Maker if you want to burn CD/DVD's, but the backup can go if you retain Acer's own, I recommend regular backups with whatever.

Another thing that can be done is to reduce the amount of disk space the restore file takes up by following these instructions http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...sage-in-vista/ I recoomend at least 20gbs. There are also 'lite' versions of Adobe reader here, http://www.softpedia.com/progDownloa...oad-90151.html with Quicktime and Realplayer versions here http://www.filehippo.com/

I would recommend a fresh install to new users, you can download the drivers from the site while you install.

All that Acer CR@P is completly useless, you only need the webcam software , the launcher and the bio protection.

Hi, so what you are saying is that you need to go and purchase another copy of vista and replace the perfectly good one that's there in the first place?

No, you can either borrow or download a copy and use the key on the bottom of your notebook to activate same.

Hi, and where would you download it from, and how can you garantte it is the right copy, you suggested something but failed to fully explain how. Installing a fresh copy is a waste of time and energy, Vista is already there it just needs some care and attention...

You cannot discuss on the forum where to download a copy (forum rules). As far as a clean install, it is not a waste of time, it is the only way to get rid of all the crap/bloatware that comes pre-installed. Yes you can uninstall the crap/bloatware one app at a time but that takes longer than doing a clean install and does not fully remove everything.

Hi, I know that thank you :-) so why is it then being suggested? I still disagree, how can unloading some software take longer than having to load the OS, some other software and the drivers as well. Your theory doesn't make any practical sense at all. All this could lead to is a laptop that doesn't function correctly because the advice given is incomplete. There is no explanation of how do to this in the correct manner being given. Just a 'clean install'...
