Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
so is there a driver for the monitor in the device manager. Surely the nvidia drivers should have sorted this for me, so I wonder why it hasn't, I tried to install Vista as there are more vista drivers available for this laptop than there are in Windows 7.

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
Ok, using Everest to find out the model which is a Samsung LTN184KT01A01 I have therefore that the resolution 1680x945 is correct as the screen is a WXGA HD+ screen, but can someone tell me if there is a samsung driver for this monitor?

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
You don't need one, it just uses the inbuilt one.
You can replace it with a fullHD one if you wanted.Sales@PowerNotebooks.com | Phone: (US) 877-711-1777 - CALL US FOR NOTEBOOKREVIEW ACTIVE MEMBER DISCOUNTS

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
Hello guys i am new to this amazing community and i would be please if you can help me with some issues.
So well i bought this amazing thing about 2 years ago. Now with so many great games for PC i bought Skyrim which is EPIC>.< but I have a great problem that ruins my expirience and it is the Frame Rate. In low config i have a descent 20 - 30 FPS (it varies a lot :S) depending on the location. I have the minimum requirements for the game which are a 2.0 ghz (ihave 2.2) dual core processor and a 512mb videocard. So i think that the low FPS are being caused by the graphics card memory which is just 512mb. I would like to know if i can add more ram to my Nvidia 9600mGT video card to 1gb (since acer says that the max is 2gb) So i have to buy a memory for my video card or can i "share" from the main RAM that s 4gb, well thx and these are my specs:
Acer Aspire 8930G
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7500 @2.2GHZ
RAM: 4 GB
System Type: 64-bit WINDOWS VISTA
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB
Board: Acer Aspire 8930 PSMBOU-1234567
BIOS: Acer V1.06 09/09/2008

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
Neither actually. You can't add RAM to a video card and it is already using your system RAM when it needs to.
Also lack of on-board video memory is not a problem in 90% of cases. What your notebook is lacking is GPU processing power.
Bethesda's minimum requirements are useless "Direct X 9 compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM " isn't saying much but recommended requirements are a bit more revealing "DirectX 9 compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher)."

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
@downloads--> So do you mean that my GPU is already capable of using the 2GB , also how it works? i mean it will sound strange but a print on my pc says that the it could go up to 2gb but i don't know how it is possible or it means that my GPU can take up to 2gb from my main RAM?
@demon148--> Do you have the same model and specs as me?, i really want to play this game "smoothly" with this notebook. Do you think that it has something to do with the fact that i don't have the Acer config anymore? i deleted the RECOVERY partition some time ago and i am not using the manufacture configuration.
I ask for your help guys in order to see what can i improve of my notebook to play Skyrim. I will list my main problems.
-> The HD is dying (it already makes rare noices)
-> I don't have the Acer Configuration anymore
-> My GPU is a 9600mGT with just 512mb
-> My CPU is a T7500 with 2.2 GHZ
THX A LOT

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
Yes- your GPU can borrow some system RAM memory if needed and it does that automatically.
Another thing- 9600M GT in Acers was either 512MB DDR3 or 1GB DDR2 the former being a lot faster since DDR3 memory is a lot faster than DDR2- so if had you "upgraded" to 1GB DDR2 one would have made it slower.
