Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
When the laptop is off, press the little dude icon on the cinedash. It'll happen then. :/ (also, merry giftmas!)

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
Hi there, I have loved my 8930g since I got it over a year ago. Until last night, I've never had a problem with it. I updated my bios, something I've done on the laptop before as well as numerous computers before hand. The computer restarted as normal so I thought all was well. That is until I tried to boot it up today and although the blue light was showing due to the power cable being plugged in, nothing happened. No fan, no power, etc.. I've been searching the net and trying various fixes, but so far no joy. Does anyone have any suggestions? It's that dreadful Insyde H2O bios.... tried going from 1.10 to 1.13. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
Okay, to wrap up what I started a few pages ago, just a few more questions to anyone who can answer.
1: Would I be able to add an Intel X25-M 80GB SATA SSD as my second hard drive without experiencing any problems, or should I watch out for problems? If I need to worry, what SSD should I aim for?
2: Currently on an Intel C2D P8400, what processor should I aim for upgrading to without having to undervolt or add additional cooling? Go for a higher-performing C2D, aim for a Quad-core, or go into the i# series? And if so, which processor?
3: Should I look at upgrading the video card, or is the 9600M GT good enough?
4: Longer down the road, I'm looking to upgrade my main hard drive to a 7200RPM 500GB drive, any recommended manufacturer?

Don't know if this will help but worth a try I guess:

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
Hi everyone,
I recently bought an OCZ vertex 2 ssd (7.7/8 on windows'mark
) and installed windows 7 64 bits (previously 32 bits).
But I have a problem, Cinedash doesn't control volume like it should be (0->100% on the cinedash, only 10% on windows for example)
Moreover, I can't find the eaudio management for windows 7 64 bits :s
Does anybody can help me?
Cheers!

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
@shaken: I planned on using it mostly to store my stupidly-growing game collection (thank you, Steam holiday sale.) since boot time doesn't really bug me.
@sharks: Download the Win7/64 version of Launch Manager from the Acer site. I don't think they have the Empowering Technology for Win7/64, but you won't miss it (much).
@anyone: Looking at the X25-M, do I need 9.5mm or 7.0mm? Or is that just talking about the size and it doesn't affect me? Aaaaand why do some sites say it's a SATA but Newegg says it's a SATA II.
EDIT - Thanks to an off-site friend, figured out the SATA business.Last edited by Kayedon; 28th December 2010 at 10:55 PM.

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
Hi all.
I've been looking around this forum a couple of days now, and must say there are some mighty fine people on here.
Here's my problem, though I've seen bits and pieces of it spread throughout here.
I've ordered an 80 gb Intel ssd.
I got my "C" drive down to about 60 gigs, but to create an image, Windows wants to include "D", which puts me up to about 150 gbs.
Can I just put in the new ssd and install Win 7 clean?
Should I take out my "old HDD " before putting in the new one?
When I open the bottom of the case , in the empty drive bay, there is a screw in the middle of it, with a green arrow pointing to it. Why?
Feel free to talk to me like I'm an 8 year old.
Plain, simple and precise.
Thank You.

Thats wierd behaviour lol. Never noticed it before because I always have my cinedash on 'Hold', tried it without hold and it worked. Mine doesnt start XP though, just starts normal Windows (Win 7) - like an extra power button.
