    that set up works well
I'm on the build with a 320GB harddrive. I looked at the second bay but it seems the connector is a little different? I can take a photograph if you want so you can see if we're talking about the same thing (like I said, hardware is not my thing.)

Second subject: Should I flash a new Bios? I'm on v1.05, what are the benefits/risks of upgrading and to what version(s)?

Yea hard drive bays are the same. I put my original hard drive in the middle so my hands don't get so warm.
Personally I don't find any benefit in flashing to an official bios, but i did see performance increase by enabling VT

The instructions are on a pdf in the zip file for the Official 1.2 bios

VT enable tutorial Acer 8930G VT enable success in windows!

@Shakennstirred: Okay, I'll just assume the other drive I tried to Frankenstein in was just different (long story). That being said, I'll repeat a question.

When I was looking online, I noticed there was an option for Interface, and that listed a few non-SATA things but what I want to know is whether there is a difference between "SATA, SATA 1.5gb/s, SATA 3 gb/s, SATA 6 gb/s" and whether or not that difference affects me, and if I need to go for a specific one or if any of them work?

EDIT: And how would enabling VT help me? Also don't quite get that. What kind of improvements would I be gaining?

EDIT2: Okay, I apologize. For some odd reason I wasn't thinking of adding a second harddrive, I was thinking of replacing the one I've got. Silly me. So probably going to aim for a full-on SSD for my second drive. So, now that I've stopped being a moron, let me post some new questions, because I know you love them:

Any particular manufacturers that are generally "better" or "worse" than others? What all would you recommend putting on a complete SSD? Mostly just my stupidly small library of larger, more drive-demanding video games? (I basically just do music, video games, browsing, a little word processing, a little audio editing, and a little photo stuff.)

Hello! I just made my account here because I am desperate with my laptop.

Here is the problem. A few days ago I started my laptop as usual and in desktop mode, after a few seconds became frozen. I gave it a restart and since then all I have is a small line in the top left corner that blinks twice and disappears and nothing on the screen. It's all black .

I tried all the possible thing I could think of: booting from a cd, removing the memory, another HDD, thousands of key combinations and even with an external monitor...

I noticed that if I press Fn+Esc the small line in the corner blinks and doesn't disappear anymore.

Please help me if you can!!

    Thank You

    Sounds like a dead harddrive.
