Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
I don't think eRecovery is installable unless the original master partition is available on the original hard drive. (Though I might be wrong on this)

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
Honestly, don't worry about the eRecovery. Just get Seagate's Diskwizard. It works wonders and is millenia ahead of that junk software Acer provides for recoveries. Wizard lets you back up the ENTIRE hard drive, meaning you can back your internal HDD(s) up to an external (I got the Cavalry 1TB from newegg) and you can actually boot from it if something happens to your main drives!
Here's the link: | Seagate
It's fairly simple to use. Just remember your good friend the F1 key

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
Hi, as this is my first post on this forum I am saying hallo to everybody

sorry for my English, I do my best, the reason I am writing to you is I have done really stupid thing to my girlfriends laptop ;/ She has go (had?!) Acer Aspire 8930g and since she bought this laptop she had a problem with the battery.
When it was up to charge the battery, sometimes laptop did not charge, I could see the sign Plugged in charging (but it did not charge), when this happened this big black thing on the charger (adapter?) stayed cold. So I read on-line that I have to upgrade the BIOS. So I did it wrong, don`t know why, I tried to upgrade it from 1.05 to 1.20 and after that laptop doesn`t work ;/ does not turn on!
I was upgrading it on a flat battery with the AC connected, now when I want to turn the laptop on nothing happen :-( I can see only the blue light which tells me that it is plugged in. When I press the power button, laptop doesn't make any sounds, no sign of the fan or booting, the screen stays black.
I tried to reset the power by holding the power button on for about 50 sec with and without the AC plugged in and it did not change anything... I tried to do Bios recovering using 1gb Verbatim pen-drive I put a Fd file on the memory stick with and without the fla file in it, I tried to change the name of this files but I am not sure if I used a right one.
Trying to recover the Bios I pressed Fn + Esc and then power --> nothing the power light does not blink (flush)
I tried Windows Button along with B -----> nothing
Could u please tell me what can I do? Is there a possibility that I have permanently damaged the laptop? please help.Last edited by tomek7; 12th June 2010 at 07:46 AM.

Re: Acer Aspire 8930G Owner's Lounge
Thanks for the great link
I have had nothing but problems, since not to long after I got this acer
issue,1,all but 1 of my usb,s worked
had to RMA.Bad motherboard.I have had to alt+f 11,several times since then
did not want to go there again. In seagate is it really as simple,as right clicking my image, saved in external drive, and selecting restore now
But your right about 1 thing is easier to use then, this,Acronis Backup & Recovery Workstation with Universal Restore v10.0.11345,that I borrowed from a friend
,I now have an image from each
seagate is faster at its processes
they are both acronis,software's
