Well you need a burning program for one thing.
But I think Vista can burn things on a dvd for you as well.
If we are talking about simple program execution files, then it should be a simple task to bundle them up onto a single dvd.

Just make sure you download all of the drivers for the hardware inside the laptop for XP.
Go into device manager, check all of the relevant hardware names/numbers (chipset as well by using cpu-z) and download the XP drivers from the manufacturers websites.
You should be able to find most, if not all of them (although check the first page of this thread ... I think there are links to all of the necessary drivers).

    No ...
The XP is probably giving you an error because of the missing SATA drivers (for your hdd).

The trick is to find proper STA drivers, load them up as XP install disc boots up and then perform the installation.
Or you can disable AHCI in BIOS, install XP, download and then install SATA drivers.

As for the backup dvd ... not sure really ... I think you backed up the drivers and applications, but not the OS itself if I'm not mistaken (although I could be).

ok well i will take the laptop for them tomorrow and ask them if they can put the xp because i'm afraid i might do something wrong
ok now i know what you mean, you mean factory recovery, the problem is that its 8 gb and i can't put it on the hard i have to put it on a dvd,and i dont know is it going to work if i put half on a dvd and half on another or i have to put it all in 1 dvd?
and the sound i don't know if i have a problem in it or is it just normal, the right side of the sound keep buzzing when there is a high sound
so if its not the same with you then i should tell them tomorrow to check it too,and the dvd drive too
each time i hold the laptop from under it,the plastic under it makes a cracking sound and go inside then come out

There is a question if they will want to install XP on your computer.
See the problem is that many stores that sell computers don't want to bother with this kind of issues because your laptop came pre-installed with Vista already.
Most of the time you are better off doing it on your own.
You cannot mess anything up really as you are only doing an installation of XP.
Your job is to be prepared before you actually go through with the installation.
Which means you must get your hands on SATA drivers, and the remaining XP drivers for the devices inside the laptop so they would work properly.

The only real issue are the SATA drivers ... as I cannot locate the generic drivers that can be used on any computer.
XP drivers can be found on the manufacturer's websites (and will often come in latest versions).

Btw ... a general heads up:
I just installed SP2 for Vista.
Everything seems to be working nicely thus far.
Haven't really noticed any performance increases just yet ... but I haven't been doing anything major really.
On a bright note I seem to have recovered about 10GB of my hard drive space.
    That's nice.
Although I cannot be sure if that was done thanks to the service pack or the inbuilt vista cleaning utility I ran using the command prompt.

Either way ... for now, the system appears to be stable.
    Also, I'm using Dox's 180.70 drivers.
I don't have issues with the laptop waking up from 'sleep' mode, and performance seems to be pretty good.
Temperatures aren't any higher than on stock drivers that came with the OS.
So I'd say, it's good (for now).

Although I really think I will install XP Pro SP3 instead of Vista and just wait until Windows 7 gets released.

i would if i were you.... ive had a lot of problems with the xp install so i went back to vista and it made it a lot easier having the disks because despite vistas annozing problems it does work pretty well on these computers....

    Congrats

@ Deks - When your laptop first came, what were the partitions and how big were they???
Because I had two 110Gb partitions (along with the hidden recovery partition)

@ kisko - Can you give us some more details, about the wierd sounds you're getting???

Also, why do all of you want to install XP so much?????
I mean I know vista isn't the best, but after a month of using it I got used to it. I don't like some aspects of it but overall I think one can live with it.

Hm ... there is a possibility they will tell you it's not possible to put XP on it for one reason or another (lack of support for new hardware ... which is complete garbage btw since XP supports new hardware as Vista does).

If they do that, tell them you won't accept 'no' for an answer and that all they need to do is get the SATA drivers that will allow XP to be installed on your machine first and foremost, and that all of the necessary drivers for the devices inside the laptop can be found on the manufacturers websites.
As a side note, check the first page of this thread because I think someone posted links to all necessary XP drivers.

If they tell you that it can be done by yourself, just retort with a statement that you'd prefer them to do it.
Although as I said before, doing it on your own (installing XP) is probably the best.
Note: if you can get them to find/give you SATA and all XP drivers, all the better.
But keep in mind that 5930G only comes with Vista pre-installed. As a result, Acer doesn't keep XP drivers on their website (which is probably where the service guys will look).

Sometimes stores love to prey on people's lack of knowledge in the computer area and tell you contradicting statements.
If you have any other questions, let us know (although a rep or two would be nice ).

In regards to the cracking sound ... hm, I don't seem to experience such an issue on my laptop.
Then again, it depends on how you define 'cracking sound'.
I will say that the sound apparently has a tendency of degrading itself (the quality) here and there (it's not regular, although it happens at times while watching videos and surfing the web ... it does correct itself after a bit though).
Is that what you are experiencing?
If yes, then I can tell you, I have the same issue. There's a possibility it's a driver related problem, or the OS.
Or it could be the sound card itself. I don't know, but I would sooner look at the issue by trying to update the drivers and then if nothing software related works, move on to suspecting the hardware itself.
