    Default Memory upgrade

    Hallo,

I want to upgrade my Memory.

I now have 2 GB. I want 4 GB or more...

But where can I find which Memory I can use?

Which Type: Bus speed (mhz), DDR, format and how high I can go??

    I have a Aspire 5720G
    Intel GM965
    T7500 (2,2 Ghz)
    8600M GT

    Thx A lot!

You can go to a max of 4GB, due to chipset and RAM chip configuration limitations. However, if you're running a 32-bit version of Windows (which I assume that you are), it will only be able to see a maximum of 3.2GB or so, no matter what, so your pursuit of 4GB may be all for not.

DDR2 667MHz will work. As for brand, that's up to you. I prefer Crucial and Corsair. Check Newegg for the usual best prices.

I suppose you have DDR2 5300, 667mhz is the max speed you can buy, I think 4gb is max you can go..2x2gb..Maybe you'll need a bios update though..
If you have 2gb at 667mhz and install 2gb at 533mhz, all the RAM speed will bet set at 533mhz.

Download CPU-Z, you can see the brand and type there..

EDIT: Due slow typing my post is pretty useless now but still..

Either way, chances are he doesn't already have a 2GB stick in his system, so having to check with CPU-Z would be more-so a waste of time.

We know that the GM965 chipset will support DDR2 667MHz, and since he'd 99% most likely would be replacing all of the current RAM he has, we can only help save him time by not having to check with CPU-Z.

Yeah you're most likely right, my 5715 came with 2x1gb..the OP can use CPU-Z for confirmation of all the info provided so far..

Really? That's rather rare in notebooks.

Usually cheaper for OEMs to use 2x1GB sticks.

Oooh, never mind. I misread what you said.

    Blame the lack of coffee.
