New AS8920-6671
Just bought the new Gemstone. It's my first laptop purchase. I've built all my desktops till now. Need some advise for a newbee. Before I adjust anything on the computer should I make an image of the hard drive or is that not necessary if it comes with a disk that will basically do that for you. And can I make a couple of partions on the hard drive.... Or is that not a good idea. I have some software called Acronis "True Image" and "Disk Director Suite" that will handle those type of tasks.
Any other tips for me? Thanks

be sure to create the RECOVERY DISKS using the eRecovery software... if current trends hold true,, you will not get DISKS,.. they are on a hidden partition on the HDD
so there is NO good reason to make an extra partition to make an image when the PQSERVICE partition is already taking up HDD space for that exact purpose...
you COULD even delete the PQSERVICE partition if you NEED the HDD room,, but i'd recommend that you keep the hidden partiton just incase you loose the backup disks or you have some other critical need...
i see too many people who DON'T make the recovery disks.. and then delete the hidden recovery partition...
ACRONIS is excellent for making mirror images of HDDs if you ever swap to a larger HDD...
MAKE THOSE ERCOVERY DISKS
