How long does it take to format a DVD-RW
The new Acer 5720 is taking over 45 minutes to format the disk. Does it normally take this long?

Re: How long does it take to format a DVD-RW
Yes Simsky, it SHOULD take 45 minutes to do a complete format. If you aren't paranoid about hiding your previous data, then you can do a quick format which would only delete the Table Of Contents instead (only takes 30 seconds for me).
It still depends on the type of software that you are using. I rely on the NTI software that came with my ACER machine, as I found it much faster than NERO or Roxio.
