Re: AS6920 Owners Lounge
I really do think AS6920G TV Tuner is vary on Models. I found that the TV Tuner is just below the Empowering Technology button, am I correct? It is blocked by a Plastic for my laptop. Is this OK?
AS6920G is a model really very vary on its model.
Just like my AS6920G have the Remote Controller(not cinedash, it is like your house TV/DVD Remote Controller which have Channel Selection, Volume, Arrows, Play, WMP, and so on), while Tehsuigi said that his AS6920G doesn't have it(he told me long ago).Acer Aspire 6920G

Re: AS6920 Owners Lounge
Where could this TV tuner card be purchased from?
Would it have to be a specific Acer branded TV card or would a generic one off eBay work?
If the PCI-E slot is enabled, which it seems to be, what else could be put there?Clevo P150HM / Core i7-2760QM / 16Gb Samsung 1333mhz / ATI Radeon 6990M 2Gb @ 825/1050 / 240GB SanDisk Extreme SATA3 SSD / 750GB WD Scorpio Black 7200rpm / Killer 1102 WiFi

Re: AS6920 Owners Lounge
ACER DIDN'T STEAL MY TV TUNER.
Such prompt replies! I really appreciate everyone's responses, thanks again.
For anyone still unsure, Tehsuigi is correct:
My model is the 6920g 6a4g25mn. and next to the 3 USB ports (Right side) is a redundant plastic-covered port (as Darksilver also described), with a TV symbol next to it.
It can probably safely be assumed that no port = no TV Tuner card.
I guess I never had a TV tuner in the first place

Re: AS6920 Owners Lounge
It does mean you've got the spot available for another mini-PCI card - maybe some Intel Turbo Memory? If you can get the wiring right, maybe you CAN configure in the TV tuner.
@DarkSilver: Yeah, that's right. I think it accepts a separate antenna or cable input.Sorry if I'm not around too often - life seems to have gotten in the way of NBR.

Re: AS6920 Owners Lounge
What would need to be done to fit some Turbo Memory or a TV Tuner?
Is there any point in using Intel Turbo Memory when I already have 4Gb of RAM and a 4Gb Windows Readyboost partition on an SD card?Clevo P150HM / Core i7-2760QM / 16Gb Samsung 1333mhz / ATI Radeon 6990M 2Gb @ 825/1050 / 240GB SanDisk Extreme SATA3 SSD / 750GB WD Scorpio Black 7200rpm / Killer 1102 WiFi

Re: AS6920 Owners Lounge
1. Turbo Memory is a standalone mini-PCI card. Plug it in, install the driver, away you go. The TV tuner would need the input jack to be there - and in this case, if you didn't get one from the factory, you can't go and stick it in there.
2. Not really, no. The ReadyBoost half of the 1GB Turbo Memory would be faster than your SD card, though.Sorry if I'm not around too often - life seems to have gotten in the way of NBR.

Re: AS6920 Owners Lounge
Hey guys, thought i'd make a little status update:
first: Got myself a new battery (11.1V, 5200mAh, Panasonic cells ~ 75E) - works beautifully, around 3h+ in power saving mode, 2h with full brightness and cpu maxed out (no gpu stress)
second: Undervolted to 0.975, -10°C and 100% stable
third: Upgraded to a 9600M GT 512 gddr3 - worked right from the start, without any flashing. Only problem, like stated in another thread, it displays nothing until the win drivers load. The performance gain is really impressive, i get more fps at higher settings than with the 9500M GS (Burnout Paradise@1920x1080, highest, 4xAA, no SSAO ~30+ fps; POP(2008)@1920x1080, highest, no AA ~ 20+ fps; NFS Undercover@1920x1080, highest, no AA ~28+ fps; UT3@1920x1080, highest, no AA ~ 30+ fps). And believe me, on the built in FHD display with its tiny dot pitch you barely notice differences between AA and no AA. For ~100$+shipping it's well worth the upgrade (if you like to get your hands dirty). One more fun fact: it actually is cooler than the 9500M GS, which brings me to...
fourth: while installing the 9600, i replaced the stock thermal compound with arctic silver 5 for both the c- and gpu. And what do you know: -5°C on both ^_^
