Re: Aspire 5315 CPU Step-by-Step Upgrade Guide
First of all would like to thank BigO for the help he gave me and continues to give to the forum

Having put Windows XP into my 5315 (with some rare crashes) everything is much much smoother compared to the stock Vista Basic (and bloatware included), but i'm having a problem when it comes to the power saving, for some reason it inst working like it should for a quite a while already.
For instance if I put or setup a profile that goes into "suspend mode" after 35min, hibernation at 50min, etc nothing of that happens...
any idea what could be causing this?

Re: Aspire 5315 CPU Step-by-Step Upgrade Guide
I had some (2x2GB Ocz CL5) which was on its way to an AMD based HP laptop.
I tried it in my 5315 and found the 3Gb limit still applied plus the memory was downclocked to 667Mhz.
The fastest memory for the 5315 in my experience is the Kingston Hyperx 667 CL4 in a 1Gb plus 2Gb configuration (the 1Gb in the slot nearest the motherboard).
Intel's 'flex' memory controller logic enables the system to run in dual channel symmetric mode with this memory configuration and still give you the best possible performance. (according to the 965 chipset family documentation at intel.com)
The AMD Turionx2 processor in the HP laptop, with its on cpu memory controller, picked up and used all the speed and low latency from the faster memory. (That old AMD architecture is still pretty special!

Re: Aspire 5315 CPU Step-by-Step Upgrade Guide
Do you remember when the frequency downclocked, did the ram timings downclock as well ?
Which memory config do you have in your notebook now ?
