Acer Aspire 4720 long shutdown problem soultion here.
Hi,
I recently purchased the Aser aspire 4720 for USD$1050.
CORE 2 DUO 1.66ghz (T5450)
14.1" widescreeen with crystal brite.
Intel 965 GM chipset.
2.5gb RAM
WIN Xp (purchased seperately cost included above)
Ok now after installing the OS, i installed all the drivers and noticed that the laptop doesn't shutdown or go to standby or hibernate.
This is because of the webcam. To fix the problem you have to go to MY COMPUTER right click on Acer crystal eye web cam and disable it.
Now the laptop will shut down.
Everytime you want to use webcam just enable it and disable afterwards.
To fix audio problems that is if you cant hear any audio in Windows media player but can hear in Realteks testing window.
Try installing drivers in this order.
1.chipset
2.audiodrivers.
The laptop is great and works fine. no heating problem, no software errors. screen is also good n bright event at 40% brightness.
hope it was helpfull.

Re: Acer Aspire 4720 long shutdown problem soultion here.
Hi,
I bought Aspire 5315 for a friend of mine and faced the same problem, so I did the following: "PS: the laptop came with Suyin webcam"
1- Install the Driver version 5.7.28.500 and the application V1.0.10 from Acer website.
2- Install the webcam driver and reboot.
3- Uninstall the device from add/remove programs and reboot.
4- Install the Suyin application.
and voila.
I then tested the cam on both Yahoo and Live messenger, and it worked fine; no need to disable and enable the cam, and the system can shut down and stand by.
