Re: Upgraded Acer 3680 Celeron CPU to a T5300!
Yes, congrats!
In hindsight, I didn't read that X-bit link until now. On page 6 of the X-bit review, it says the ASUS A6Rp has an RX480 northbridge. The http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_ATI_chipsets page says that the RX480 supports FSB up to 1000 MHz. So your possibilities are almost limitless, depending on how much you want to spend on a CPU!Acer Aspire 3680-2682 w/Intel i943GML chipset
Was: Intel Celeron M 440 Yonah 1.866GHz 65nm 533MHz FSB
Now: Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 Merom 1.833Ghz dual core 65nm 667MHz FSB - thanks to krazyphire for upgrade inspiration/directions
Internal Bluetooth - thanks to letmealone for upgrade inspiration/directions

Hey guys, hope somebody can help a poor sole, after realising my board is a 940 board, after also buying the t5200 chip
and the help you all gave me, i had decided well if i cant upgrade the chip then at least i can upgrade ram and OS to ultimate... nooooooo, i formated the whole drive and now my 3680 dosn't boot sometimes because i formated the D2D recovery partition like a fool... i didnt know about this till it was wiped and come accross the problem at bios...
So Biggest request EVER from me to save my new laptop, can somebody please, please, upload either the recovery cd to get the partition back, or copy the recovery partition. please i am begging you all, whoever can help...

Re: Upgraded Acer 3680 Celeron CPU to a T5300!
Vistar, i dont think that your problem in booting is due to the removed hidden partition. Maybe the problem is the new ram... if i remember, in this model there were problems when putting a second ram stick, solved by newer bios release. If you still didnt, update your bios to 1.3505 or better. Anyway, to be sure that the new ram is the problem, try to boot with only a ram stick.
About the processor... you can still go with a T1350, still better than the Celeron, running quicker and cooler with a hour more of battery life.Last edited by letmealone; 31st March 2008 at 06:23 AM.

Re: Upgraded Acer 3680 Celeron CPU to a T5300!
No i tried without the new ram (kept the original 512MB stick in) i have the 1.3505 bios, this only has happened after i completely wiped mt hard drive (and it wiped the recovery partition too!) aparently, you would have booting trouble if the partition table was erased (which it is)... its not even booting to disc, it freezes when i try to enter bios settings, sometimes the acer logo upon bios is distorted/messed up when i press F2, its under warranty still but i has snapped a screw holder and a small piece of plastic behind the battery so may be void now
cheers acer your ace... not
