Yes, you should be able to do the upgrade. Bear in mind though, unless ou use processor dependant tasks, there will be no performance increase. It will also void the warranty of the notebook. I advise you to spend the money on more RAM and a faster hard disk, both of which will provide a performance boost, that you will notice.

Re: ACER 5024 - replacing ML-34 (1,8 Ghz) with MT-37 (2,0 Ghz)
Ok. The reason I've been planning to upgrade the processor is that MT's consume less power (25 watts) and therefore it would run cooler and longer on battery than notebooks equipped with ML processors.

True, but you can always undervolt you ML cpu, making it consume less than a stock MT.The reason I've been planning to upgrade the processor is that MT's consume less power (25 watts) and therefore it would run cooler and longer on battery than notebooks equipped with ML processors.
Remember, the MT's just run on less volts stock, but u can do that urself. As I walk through the valley of rice I shall fear no turbo, for torque art with me.

Re: ACER 5024 - replacing ML-34 (1,8 Ghz) with MT-37 (2,0 Ghz)
Hi,
I know its an old thread, bit perhaps someone can help me. I have an Aspire 5024 notebook with Turion ML-30 (1.6 Ghz) CPU and want to upgrade to ML-37. I've diassambled my notebook and replaced the CPU but it does not want to post with the ML-37. The power LED and the fan go on, but the display stays black. The BIOS is up to date (1.20). Does anyone know what I can do to get it working?
HEEEELP!!!!
Thanks!

The CPU was damaged. The seller has sent me an other one and it works now. I have 2 Ghz now!
