High capacity/spare battery for acer aspire 5680?
Hi folks,
I have just purchased an acer aspire 5685WLMi laptop and I am a little unhappy with the 2 1/2 hrs battery life (4800mAh). So is there a higher capacity battery I can buy for this Acer?? or failing that where can I get a 2nd battery which is the same? I have tried google but am getting nowhere!
Thanks

Re: High capacity/spare battery for acer aspire 5680?
If you sign up for the Acer Advantage 3 year extended warranty you can opt to buy a second battery at 30% off the normal price. Depends if you are interested in this deal or not. You can take out the acer advantage warranty any time within the first 12 months of ownership.
As far as I know there are two versions. One is full cover including accidental damage, the other is just the manufacturer warranty but extended to 3 years instead of one.
Acer sell batteries including higher capacity ones for certain models.

Re: High capacity/spare battery for acer aspire 5680?
Here is some info I received recently after emailing a few questions I had to Acer:
You may find it useful.
--------------------------------
3. To extend your warranty on your Acer Notebook you can enter into the Acer Advantage warranty extension program. If you enter Acer Advantage in your favourite internet search engine you will find a number of retailers where you can buy the warranty extension pack. Once you have the warranty pack you will need to register your details on the website, www.aceradvantage.com, or via our call centre on 0870 853 1000. Once you have registered your details you will need to return your signed contract, seal of authenticity, and copy of your proof of purchase to our offices in Plymouth to complete the registration. Activation is necessary to ensure that your warranty extension is valid, and we may not be able to honour an extended warranty that has been purchased but not registered. If you have not activated you warranty extension within the given period stated in the Acer Advantage booklet for your product, you can contact us to discuss your options.
Acer Advantage offers a three year warranty extension with various implementations (depending on the product and warranty extension type selected; check the specific details by product line at www.aceradvantage.com ). Furthermore it gives you a series of added advantages like; free repairs for accidental damage (apart from screen damage in the case of notebooks) and a target repair time of 5 working days, technical support via telephone, fax or e-mail for the 3-year extended warranty period, and (in the case of notebooks) the chance to purchase, directly from Acer, a spare battery with a 30% discount.
The Acer Advantage extended warranty can be registered up to 360 days after purchase. After this period we are not able to offer an extended warranty service. This product is only available from resellers and is unfortunately not available directly from Acer. Please note: Acer Advantage with accidental damage cover will incur a 90 day penalty if registered more than 90 days after purchase of the computer.

Re: High capacity/spare battery for acer aspire 5680?
Whoa ... love the "small print"!! lol
I think I will go for it ... ebuyer are doing the package mentioned above. Not too fussed about accidental damage as I am pretty careful with my techno stuff. Just that I am convinced that the build quality is not quite all there with the Acer (the 4-way scroll button don't feel that robust to me) [a compromise made for the price I paid!].
Nice friendly forum though ... had a few interesting replies/tips so far. Being a laptop newbie I thought I might make a fool of myself!!!

Re: High capacity/spare battery for acer aspire 5680?
Hi
For those still looking for brand new Acer batteries, 3 to 9 cells, Acer has an official online webshop : http://www.store.acer-euro.com
There are not all the options available on the market.
