New Speakers or...?
Well, I have an Altec Lansing MX6021 soundsystem...
Recently, one of the pins in the controller's connector broke and therefore the entire system is unusable until I get another one... Ugh.
For someone that loves bassy music, that's deadly...
I was wondering if it would be more prudent to just buy an entirely new soundsystem, as ive had these for several years. They still sound fine, but you know I always like to have the best... And it seems like someone messed up when they put the whole package together... Hah, I mean the subwoofer is huge and is pretty high quality but the accompanying speakers seem to be lower...
Perhaps a more balanced system would be prudent?
I've been looking at the Razer Mako... and wondering if anyone has any honest reviews on these?
Or should I just stay with what I got and order a new controller... Argh.

Re: New Speakers or...?
If you like your system you could always put a new plug on the end that is broken.

To be honest, Razer probably isn't the company you want to look at when it comes to sound quality.
Any particular setup that you're looking for? 2.1? 5.1? 7.1?
And of course it never hurts to take a stroll by teh avsforums, those guys really know their stuff.Dell Precision M6600

Second the avsforum recommendation. It's like a slightly more snobbish audio related NBR. For what its worth, I paid $80 for my klipsch promedia 2.1 system and I'd need a pretty big jump in fidelity to consider better speakers for my laptop rig

Re: New Speakers or...?
Are you set on getting a speaker set or have you considered any alternatives? I personally spent almost 2 years using a pair of AudioTechnica ATH-M50's ($150 range) Headphones and have recently upgraded to Sennheiser IE80's($450msrp ask if you're interested I could point you towards where they are available for $350) and I've not looked back. The Sennheiser's have bass that's amazing. They are fully capable of reproducing a 20hz note which is saying something, and the sound quality is just flat out AMAZING.

Well I posted the same question on AVS, awaiting replies.
I'll probably just end up replacing them but how do you think these will sound
Octane 7 - VS4621 - Computer Speakers at Altec Lansing Altec Lansing
compared to my MX6021's?
Or better yet, these have free shipping and have pretty good reviews although complaints about bass performance worry me...
