2.1 Audio Speakers.
I am in the market for new computer speakers. I want to get some premium speakers that will sound great for music and moderate use for movies and gaming. I am looking for a 2.1 speaker system. These speaker will be used in a small room, so i dont want 5.1 or 7.1 audio cause i dont want to hassle with hanging up speakers. Budget is less than $400. I have considered buying bookshelf speakers and an amplifier, but it will take up too much room. I want to seek a more simplistic solution.
Speakers that I have been contemplating.
Klipsch Promedia 2.1
ProMedia 2.1 Wireless iPod/Computer Speaker - Specifications
Logitech Z623
Speaker System Z623
Corsair SP2500
Gaming Audio Series? SP2500 High-power 2.1 PC Speaker System - Speakers - Audio
I have not been able to listen to any of the systems listed, so i want to know your guys opinions on them.
What are your thoughts and opinions?
Is there any others i should consider?| ALIENWARE M15X | COSMIC BLACK | i7 840QM | ATI 5850 | 6GB 1333MHZ | 500GB HDD | 1080p WLED | BLU-RAY | INTEL 5300 WIFI | 9-CELL | WIN7 HOME 64BIT |

Re: 2.1 Audio Speakers.
Id go for the Klipsch if you can find them on sale, or just get a normal home audio receiver and get some non-pc based speakers.

Re: 2.1 Audio Speakers.
I'll vouch for the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. It's an excellent set for the budget. I haven't heard any of the other two, but I have the Z623's predecessor, the Z-2300, and it's also very nice.

Re: 2.1 Audio Speakers.
I'll third the Klipsch. Though like Mastershroom, I compared it to the Z-2300 not the Z623.

Re: 2.1 Audio Speakers.
I've had many different (older) models of logitech and they're good for what they are. They focus on decent highs and boomy bass, good for gaming. The klipsch 2.1 are a better all around set for me. It's soundstage is a bit more clearer and has a tighter, cleaner bass compared to that of a logitech z-4 or z2300. Good thing about yur choices is that they're pretty popular. U could physically test them out much easier. It'll be much easier that way since audio is very subjective. No 2 ppl will have the same opinions.
Is it me or does the z623 look a lot cheaper then the z2300's?Beast!!!: Sager NP8850 - 17.3" LED 1080p Screen - Intel i7-840QM - GeForce GTX 480M - 8GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM - 6x Blu Ray Drive - 500GB 7200 HDD - Intel Ultimate-N 6300 - A/B/G/N - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit - IC Diamond Thermal Compound

The AE Aego-Ms are also rather popular, generally go for ~$150-200 I believe (basing off of rough UK pricing).

Re: 2.1 Audio Speakers.
For that price I wouldn't touch anything except some KRK Rokit R6G2's. You can find the black and yellow versions for 300 a set shipped. The limited edition silver ones are currently 400 shipped. They're a bit big, but they have a 6" driver and they are active monitors so you don't have to worry about buying an amp for them.

Re: 2.1 Audio Speakers.
Of the 3 listed, I'd go with the Klipsch. I wouldn't be swayed by the "gaming" marketing. Loud bass does not necessarily equal good quality if your primary use will be for music.
But I agree with this post--at your budget range, you can start looking at monitors (or at the least something like the B&W MM-1, which is a lot easier on the eyes than the G2s, if still hi-fi...if that matters to you).
KRK even has 3 different sizes to match your needs. No sub, so not 2.1, but they don't need one.

Re: 2.1 Audio Speakers.
From personal experience with the Audioengine 5's, I can wholeheartedly recommend them. They are not however 2.1s, as there is no subwoofer. Very impressive transparency though. Note that you wont get really 'booming' bass. What you do get is crisp however.
Audioengine 5 (A5) Premium Powered Bookshelf Speakers
Out of your list though, The Klipsch ProMedias are the best.M15x - i7 720QM, 4GB RAM, 1920x1080, ATi HD 5850
