    I'm worried about the metal bottom part scratching up the front of my laptop. anyone have comments about this?

    Shouldn't be a problem, they are polished up nicely. But what you could do is get those rubber-feet and attach it. lol but I don't think it's necessary.

    So this fan blows air up (and my m17x r3 sucks air up from the bottom), will this just improve the airflow through the fan?

    I use my laptop in my lap most of the time and not a desk and I'm afraid the fan would suck up bad stuff like hair and get clogged...
