Re: Notebook Coolers : A Buyers Guide, Reviews, Statistics and More!
That's fine. I guess I was one of those few people that followed the guide step by step and encountered a few problems along the way.
I thought I had graduated from the beginner level. =(Undervolting will NOT compromise performance at all. Underclocking and Overclocking (clock speeds) is whats responsible in regards to performance. Benchmarks will also prove that performance remains the same. Most beginners usually think and assume undervolting will sacrifice performance but they are wrong.Last edited by garetjax; 5th July 2008 at 07:34 PM.

Nice guide. Are any of these for 17" laptops? I see no mention of sizes when listing coolers.

Re: Notebook Coolers : A Buyers Guide, Reviews, Statistics and More!
I have a NZXT Cryro LX and wow is all I have to say. The cooler made my vostro 1700 go from blowing hot air during long gaming sessions to not having to turn the fan on at all. I dont have any numbers but it was def worth the money to get this cooler. Its a perfect fit that cools very well, and when the fans die I can just run to my local computer super store or shop online and replace the 3 120mm fans. As for sound I cant even hear it when its on full blast in my office. Also gone is my old USB hub as there is a built in 4 port hub on the back. So for a heat conductive aluminum 17in laptop cooler alone its worth it, but add the ability to replace fans and a USB hub make this a sure bet for any 17in enthusiast.
The only cons are that its kinda bulky, so it isnt really the best protable option. But then again this cooler is meant for a bulky laptop that isnt considered portable to begin with.

Re: Notebook Coolers : A Buyers Guide, Reviews, Statistics and More!
Hello, I hope someone can point me in the right direction. This was a very good Notebook Cooler Buyer's Guide.
I have a newly bought Gateway M-152XL.
A photo showing the underneath portion of the laptop is below. I suspect the slotted areas are the intake vents. The exhaust vent (not pictured) is located on the left side of the laptop, right about at the middle.
My question is, what notebook cooler models would be best for this laptop? The laptop has a 15.4" screen. The laptop is 14" wide by 10" deep.
I'm willing to spend no more than $80. I usually have the laptop on my lap during use. I do not play any games on my laptop, but I do look at videos and do video conversions, burn DVDs, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Notebook Coolers : A Buyers Guide, Reviews, Statistics and More!
I would say zalman nc 2000 as the top back vent is kinda towards the outside it would be best to go bigger. I know for a fact that with vents set up like that if you set the notebook up on the Zalman NC2000 and then dont put it above the rubber lip on the cooler but pull it a bit furtherdown every vent should be hit.jazzspot
good luck

Re: Notebook Coolers : A Buyers Guide, Reviews, Statistics and More!
Yeah, I use my laptop in my house. While sitting on my couch/loveseat/recliner while the TV is on. Too bad it's not designed for use on the lap. Newegg and buy.com are out of stock anyway at current date.
Maybe I'll just buy a non-fan type of notebook cooler. I just get very uncomfortable because my left leg is always getting very warm due to my laptop.
