Does the NC2000 fit comfortably on your lap? If I paid a little more for the Cryo LX, would it do a better job? Would it fit comfortably on one's lap?

Bit of help needed: Will a CoolerMaster Infinite effectively cool my Dell 1420? It's only 3 days old so my idling and (mild) usage temps are pretty healthy (62 degrees Celcius max for GPU in a very hot environment and ~43-45 for the HDD and CPU), but I want to cool it down more because the keyboard and left palmrest gets too warm for my liking after a couple of hours or three.
My laptop: Dell Inspiron 1420 in Ruby Red
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5 GHz 6MB cache,
    4GB DDR2 667MHz SDRAM, Vista Home Premium SP1
    14.1" WXGA+ (1440x900) TrueLife
    250 GB SATA 5400rpm HDD
Nvidia 8400M GS with dedicated 128 GB GDDR3 memory
    Dell 1505 Wireless-N mini-card, 2MP webcam
    56Whr 6-cell Li-Ion battery

Neither of those will work on one's lap. Which notebook do you have and do you plan on gaming on your lap? and is noise an issue?

The Infinite should do ok, it will miss the middle area under the "GH" key area and touchpad. One that may work better if you are not using it on soft surfaces would be a NC1000.

If you plan on using a 17 incher on your lap you may want to be open to a passive solution as there are no non desk 17 inch coolers available

Are you open to that idea?

Well.. I guess I would just like to extend the life of my laptop.. right now the temperature of the hard drive is the only thing that worries me.. I could just go for one that would be on my desk all the time. I've just read that the Zalman doesn't always prove to work as well as the praise it's given. Do you think it would be the best option for my dv9700t? Would paying a little more for the Cryo be worth it?

on that pc (your notebook is on the right) which one is the hd and can you give me some measurements of the notebook like space from front to vent X etc more = better

I will be able to tell which will work better for your notebook.

Is noise a major issue or not really?

    Default Which Notebook Cooler???

Hi everybody... and X2P, the resident 'guru'!...

Quick question: I've got an ACER Aspire 5510 (15.4")... which NB cooler would you recommend taking into account that:

1.) I use it mostly as desktop -not much 'mobility' really.

2.) I am concerned about noise but anything less than the notebook fan at high speed is indeed acceptable. My laptop is 3y old and normal ops temp is 40-45º for HD and 60-65º for CPU -using NHC's ability to reduce CPU clock speed (75-80º when used at full speed)

3.) I permanently do use 2 of the 3 available USB ports...and the third is quite often used as well (for external HDDs!). Therefore it's an issue for me to 'waste' one or more USB ports for operating an NB cooler!.

I've checked around the Zalman NC-2000, the Coolermaster Notepal and the NZXT Cryo LX... but I am not sure which one should I buy. Maybe there's a different brand I should be looking at as well?

    Thanks for any guidance.

PS. btw, any idea where to get NZXT in Europe?
