I am referring to controllers that don't have a switch between analogue and digital at all. My Horipad EX2 Turbo has a button that says analogue control but regardless of where the switch is before Mame is started up, I can only use the analogue control and never the Dpad.

On my other controller that has a switch, there is no problem.

I will try out a more recent version of Mame but I doubt it will make a difference.

Edit: A recent version of Mame makes no difference. If your controller does not have a button that allows you to switch between analogue and digital then you will probably have to rely on third party solutions which is annoying.
