I've decided to take on the duty to post the latest drivers and software compatible with the following notebooks
using an Intel processor below. It is part of my ongoing, informal commitment to help assist those who had performed clean installs on their HP notebooks. Please let me know if you find newer drivers or other devices so I can update this post!
Compatible notebook products ("xxx" denotes a three-digit number):
- HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebooks
- dv6-2xxx series (dv6t and dv6t Quad Edition, Intel Core i3/i5/i7 mobile processor)
- dv7-3xxx series (dv7t and dv7t Quad Edition, Intel Core i3/i5/i7 mobile processor)
- dv8-1xxx series (dv8t and dv8t Quad Edition, Intel Core i5/i7 mobile processor)
- HP HDX Premium Notebooks
- HDX16-1xxx series
- HDX18-1xxx series
NOTE: All of these drivers come from HP's website, Microsoft Update, and from other reputable websites (including other manufacturers). All of the drivers here are WHQL Certified or digitally signed drivers, available as of the date when this post was updated. These drivers should be compatible with the notebook series stated above, but I am not responsible for technical difficulties that can occur as a result of improper driver installation!
Following along the same lines as the other driver threads, the process of installing and updating drivers is for
ADVANCED/EXPERIENCED users only. Average users can use the drivers located at the
HP support portals -- they're the safest and simplest way to go in terms of drivers for your specific model. Some of these drivers may work with notebooks other than the stated brand and models, but this is NOT guaranteed.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK -- only install these drivers if you know how to revert the changes that you have made should any problems be encountered.
Intel Chipset Device Software
| Important Information |
- To ensure that all device drivers are updated, simply execute the downloaded file using the -overall parameter.
- Example: If you saved the downloaded file as infinst911autol.exe to the root directory of C: drive, you can launch the Run command (Windows key + R) and insert "C:\infinst911autol.exe -overall" in the Open field (without the quotes). Press OK to begin the interactive installation process.

| Important Information |
- Make sure that you download the package that is applicable to the OS you are currently using.
- It is recommended that you uninstall all previous versions of the driver before installing the newest version. If you don't, the installation wizard will uninstall any old versions for you. You may have to relaunch the installation wizard to proceed with the actual installation of the new driver.

| Important Information |
- This TV tuner is originally made by AVerMedia. There is sometimes a newer version of the driver available on their website, however if you use that driver it will not be recognized as "HP ATSC/Analog TV Tuner" or "HP DVB-T/Analog TV Tuner."
- Only install this if your notebook comes with an integrated TV tuner provided by HP.

HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor
| Important Information |
- Do not install this if your notebook is not using a hard drive provided by HP, or if your notebook solely uses solid-state drives (SSDs).
- This driver is equivalently known as HP ProtectSmart for consumer notebooks and HP 3D DriveGuard for business notebooks.
- The latest version of the driver is provided by the Microsoft Update Catalog and must be installed using the Device Manager - Update Driver wizard.
- Make sure you have the Intel Matrix Storage Manager installed before you install this.
- If you would like the Control Panel utility installed along with the latest driver, follow these steps:
- Install the version 4.0.5.1 driver package.
- Update to the current driver release using the Device Manager.

HP MediaSmart
| Important Information |
- Please note that the HP MediaSmart software suite is OPTIONAL, and is not required for your notebook to function normally. However, I am providing links to the MediaSmart software for those who want it, since users have requested that I provide them.
- Note that MediaSmart is for HP consumer notebooks with non-touchscreen displays. Use TouchSmart if your notebook has a touchscreen display.
- MediaSmart software installations may take a little while to complete, so be patient if it does!
